Birmingham-based law firm Shakespeare Putsman has advised the outgoing shareholder of Clearlight Electrical on the company's sale to Denmans Electrical Wholesalers for an undisclosed sum.
The deal sees Clearlight - and its parent company Power Industries - become part of Rexel, the world's number one distributor of electrical supplies.
The acquisition of Erdington-based Clearlight was carried out through one of Rexel's main UK trading subsidiaries, Denmans Electrical Wholesalers. Denmans is a £60m turnover business with 64 stores across the UK. The addition of Clearlight's eight outlets based throughout the Midlands and South East will significantly strengthen Denmans' UK presence.
Kian Golestani, a partner in Shakespeare Putsman's corporate team, provided lead advice to vendor and headed a team who gave additional commercial, property and insurance advice supported by tax and accountancy advice from David Farnsworth of Feltons.
"This deal gives Clearlight the opportunity to build on its already strong position in the electrical distributor marketplace," said Kian Golestani. "It will provide Clearlight's 70staff with enhanced opportunities for career development and enable Denmans to progress its plans for growth across the UK. The Shakespeare Putsman team advised on a wide range of complex issues throughout the process and are delighted to have helped achieve the right result both for Clearlight's owner and staff and for Denmans."
