Shakespeare Putsman advises on Flint sale

Shakespeare Putsman has advised the shareholders of Flint Distribution Limited on its sale to Avnet Time, part of global electronics business Avnet Inc.

Leicestershire-based Flint is one of the UK's leading specialist electronic component distributors. The newly-formed business will have annual revenues of 31m Euros and will play an important role in Avnet's plans for growth across Europe.

Carl Barton, manager and co-founder of Flint, will lead the new, larger Avnet Time Business in the UK and Ireland. He said: "We have a very loyal and high quality team in Coalville and I am confident that their career opportunities will be enhanced by joining Avnet Time. Flint has been my life for over 20 years and my overriding objective was to ensure that "my baby" went to the best possible home."

Corporate partner Keith Spedding led the Shakespeare Putsman legal team which advised Flint on the sale. He said: "It's fantastic to see Flint in such a strong position to build for the future and to have played our part in delivering a great result for the shareholders."

Chairman Keith Williams said: "Getting this deal to the finishing line was particularly challenging and our thanks go to an outstanding professional team who aided the executive directors throughout. This included Shakespeare Putsman and Bishopsgate Corporate Finance without whose commitment and experience, the deal would not have happened."
