Shakespeare Putsman advises Wenham Major

Shakespeare Putsman has advised accountancy firm Wenham Major in its acquisition of rival HKM, a deal which makes it one of the largest independent accountancy firms in the Midlands.

Gary Davie, corporate Partner at Shakespeare Putsman, acted on behalf of Birmingham neighbours Wenham Major, already ranked the fastest growing firm of accountants in the UK in Accountancy Age league tables published in June.

Executive chairman John Joyce indicated though that the firm has entered a new stage in its development as it makes what is likely to be the first of a number of acquisitions across the UK.

"Both sides bring something different to the party" he said. "By pooling our resources, we will be able to demonstrate tangible benefits to our clients and to provide access to a much broader range of services, all within the same firm.

The deal comes on the back of a hat trick of significant deals advised on by Shakespeare Putsman's corporate team.

Commenting on the deal, head of Shakespeare Putsmans corporate team, Gary Davie said: "Our new team is building up a real momentum now. The personnel have blended really well and we are focussed on building on our strengths for the future.

"We have had a strong start to the financial year and this is testament to the strength and breadth of our experience in our core market; deals of a value one to ten million."
